My decade of professional design experience has allowed me the priviledge of working with a range of mediums and technologies. From digital products like websites, software and mobile apps, to design and brand systems, marketing, and interfaces for drones and robotics. My creative passion has driven me since I was a child, extending to other mediums, such as music production and composition, photography, videography and art. I also have other interests including behavioural psychology, epigenetics, fitness/nutrition and horticulture.
I am proudly half Karen Burmese, also with family heritage traced to England, Wales, and Europe. I spend much of my time with my multi-generational family, including my 87-year old father, Peter Coates, a well-known painter and artist in New Zealand, who ignited my passion for creativity and curiousity since I was a child. My mother, Annie Coates, does a lot of social work for the local Burmese refugee community, which inspires my desire to facilitate good design and communication for real people using empathy.
