Ever since I was young, I liked to draw. My interest of drawing whatever comes to mind is still with me, though I mostly tend to focus that creative energy into my work. My father is Peter Coates, a well-known local artist who has had his work exhibited in the Beehive and features as a guest artist regularly as a member of the Art Academy in Wellington. Art definitely runs in the family, and I have been taught to always be curious, explore, and create: To find passion in observation itself, and expressing those observations in a wide range of mediums. I enjoy physical media as well as working digitally.
