8i Studio is a web app built to preview footage recorded by the 8i capture rig and select frames to be processed into volumetric video. Designed to accompany a hologram capture project from the planning stages through to capture and processing, 8i Studio helps replace standard VFX tools, such as Shotgun, as a bespoke app made specifically for tracking volumetric video productions.
One of the challenges faced during this project was understanding VFX industry terminology, roles and workflows, and using that knowledge to create an experience that was easy for someone in the VFX industry to use, while including unique features such as multiple camera views and upload status information.
